Pinups (Adolescents) - st (1993)

Not an official Adolescents release, but it's Steve Soto, Rikk and Frank Agnew and Tony Montana doing a covers album under the Pinups title.

It's not a release that was destined to set the world on fire, but should receive praise for trying to pull some hidden gems back into the public eye. These include "I wanna be me" by the Pistols; always a firm favourite of mine along with satellite and did you no wrong. Slaughter & the Dogs "the bitch", The Viletones "screaming fist", F-words "do the nihl". There's also a very dodgy version of "harmony in my head"....tsk tsk along with many more.

  2. Never bought this when it came out. Wished I did! This is pretty good! Seems Tony is more at home singing the Stooges, Dead Boys, Damned songs. I really like this

  3. You know Steve Soto? Do you know Rikk?

I've always wanted to know how many copies of the Detours single were actually released as I tried for years, and offered various members of my family as payment, for a copy, but to no avail

  4. I have met Steve many times. Friends of friends. The drummer from Mad Parade is a good friend of mine, and he's buddies with Steve. Steve is a real nice guy. My other buddy who is in Ribzy (San Jose area hardcore band that opened for just about everyone from 81-84) is good friends with Rikk. Actually Rikk's new band played my hometown last month, though I did not go. I think he is an amazing guitar player

  5. Which band was that? He's in so many I won't presumme poop. He's an excellent guitar player and very underrated. The Adolescents are one of the soundtracks of my youth...even living in rainy England I bopped along to the SOCal sound and imagined I was there.
